With nearly a decade of experience in both interactive and print design, Mat has dedicated most of his adult life to making things look good. He takes pride in having happy clients, and loves the way good design can elevate books, websites, and just about everything else to new levels.

Before Sevenbay, Mat worked as Art Director for the Maine Media Workshops, but has also been employed as a gaffer, photo-illustrator, videographer, and in-store juggler (seriously). When not choosing fonts and working on layouts Thorne can be found watching old monster movies, reading sci-fi novels, or hunting for tasty food in Pittsburgh.

In addition to his work at Sevenbay, Thorne teaches design workshops at the Maine Media Workshops in Rockport, Maine, and NORDphotography in Oslo, Norway. He has also lectured on design at PDN PhotoPlus, the B&H Event Space, and the Altitude Design Summit.

Matt bought a big 'ole book of HTML and made his first web page in middle school. Then he discovered photography.

Years later, armed with only a BFA and a desire to learn, he continues to teach himself whatever means necessary to transform ideas into experiences.

Matt's daily routine is a tug-of-war between books, code, running shoes, crossword puzzles, caffeine, and absurd Photoshop collages.
